Australia and New Zealand follow Canada in banning people who have or have had myalgic encephalomyelitis from donating blood.

EMEA has written to European health ministers calling for a Europe-wide ban on donations from people diagnosed with ME/CFS in order to safeguard Europe's blood banks from contamination.

This follows on from the recent biomedical research by the Whittemore-Peterson Institute/National Cancer Institute/Cleveland Clinic in discovering a link between the XMRV retrovirus and ME.
